Does AI Recommend Toronto Med Spas? We Asked ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google

The short version: we asked the four major AI answer engines to recommend a Toronto med spa on October 4, 2026. They named specific clinics instantly, and this is the most review-driven, Maps-grounded vertical we have tested. Perplexity rendered a live map of clinics with star ratings; Gemini returned place cards with ratings and hours; ChatGPT ranked six with its top pick. A small shortlist recurred across engines, led by Rejuuv Medi Spa, which was the number one pick on both ChatGPT and Perplexity. If you run a Toronto med spa, your Google reviews are close to your entire AI-visibility strategy.

This is the med spa entry in a series. See the companion studies on HVAC companies, law firms, real estate agents, and dentists, plus the monthly Toronto AI citation tracker.

How we tested (and the honest limits)

We queried four surfaces: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini (with web search), and Google (Canada region). We ran two intents, a head commercial query ("best med spa in Toronto") and a treatment-specific query ("best Botox clinic in Toronto"), and logged which clinics each engine named and which sources it cited.

The honest caveats, up front. This is a focused field test on a single date with two query types, not a large statistical sample. ChatGPT and Gemini were accessed through a signed-in account, so some personalization is possible, and Gemini was running its lightweight Flash-Lite model. The clinic names below are what the engines surfaced from public Maps, directories, and the web. Treat them as a snapshot of machine behaviour, not a ranking or an endorsement from us. The pattern is the point.

Finding 1: Every AI engine names specific clinics, with ratings attached

There was no hedging. ChatGPT ranked six clinics with a clear top pick (Rejuuv Medi Spa) and quoted each one's star rating and review count. Perplexity opened with a live "Places" map module listing ten clinics with ratings, then wrote up a best-overall shortlist. Gemini returned structured place cards, each with a rating, category, and hours, for clinics like Bar Beauty, Skin Vitality, VitalityMD, and Canada MedLaser. For this category the AI answer is essentially a curated Maps result with commentary.

Finding 2: The consensus shortlist is strong, and Rejuuv Medi Spa leads it

Unlike HVAC, where each engine named its own set, med spas produced real convergence. Rejuuv Medi Spa in Yorkville was the number one recommendation on both ChatGPT and Perplexity, each citing its near-perfect rating across roughly 390 reviews. Clinique De Mode appeared on both as well, as did 30 Hazelton Med Spa. North Medical Spa showed up on Google and Perplexity; Bar Beauty and Skin Vitality showed up on Google and Gemini.

When several independent engines keep returning the same name, that clinic has built the cross-web footprint the models trust. Rejuuv has it right now. That is the seat every competitor is trying to take.

Finding 3: This vertical is Maps-grounded and review-driven, full stop

The grounding was unmistakable. Perplexity served an actual map widget. Gemini served Maps place cards. Every clinic the engines named carried a 4.7 to 5.0 Google rating, and most had hundreds of reviews, with the assistants naming those numbers as the reason for the pick. Rejuuv (5.0, around 390 reviews), Clinique De Mode (4.9, 600-plus), Fresh Cosmetic Clinic (4.9, 900-plus): the ratings were the argument.

The lesson is blunt. For a med spa, your Google Business Profile and your review corpus are not one marketing channel among many. They are the input the AI reads first. Our guide to ranking a service business on Google Maps is the foundation here, and because Gemini increasingly answers these questions through Google's own map layer, our piece on Ask Maps in Canada is worth reading alongside it.

Finding 4: The treatment query returns an almost entirely different shortlist

When we switched from "best med spa" to "best Botox clinic," Perplexity's list turned over almost completely. The med spa query led with Rejuuv Medi Spa and Clinique De Mode. The Botox query led with Fresh Cosmetic Clinic, POUTx, Pure Rejuvenation, and Lift Clinic, with essentially no overlap.

So a clinic can be the engine's pick for "best med spa" and be invisible for "best Botox clinic," which is often the higher-intent, ready-to-book query. Treatment-specific pages (Botox, filler, laser hair removal, skin tightening), each with their own reviews and answer-first content, are how you compete for the intents that actually convert.

Finding 5: On Google, there is no AI Overview, and Reddit is loud

As with every local commercial query we have tested, Google did not generate an AI Overview for "best med spa in Toronto." It returned organic listicles (Bar Beauty, Skin Vitality, North Medical Spa, Signature Cosmetic), a sponsored Skin Vitality Botox ad, and a prominent set of Reddit threads from r/askTO, where people named North Medical Spa ("my ride or die"), Serene Cosmetic Clinic, and Vitality Works.

For this category, Reddit sentiment is a real ranking surface on Google, and it feeds the broader web reputation the AI engines read. A clinic with happy clients who say so on Reddit has an asset that is hard to buy.

What this means if you run a Toronto med spa

  • Treat your Google reviews as your AI strategy. Rating and review volume were the single clearest predictor of being named. A sustained review-generation habit, not a one-time push, is the lever.
  • Perfect your Google Business Profile. Because Perplexity and Gemini answer through Maps data, accurate categories, hours, services, and photos are the raw material the AI reads. See ranking on Google Maps.
  • Build treatment-specific pages. "Best med spa" and "best Botox clinic" return different clinics. Dedicated, answer-first pages for Botox, filler, laser, and skin treatments, each with their own proof and reviews, let you compete for the high-intent queries.
  • Get into the local "best of" guides. The engines cited curated lists like bestinhood and The Best Toronto. Earning a place on those is earning a citation.
  • Cultivate honest Reddit goodwill. r/askTO shapes both Google's results and the wider reputation signal. Real client advocacy there is worth more than any ad.

Limitations

This is one field test on one date, October 4, 2026, with two query intents. ChatGPT and Gemini were accessed signed in, so personalization may have influenced results, and Gemini ran its Flash-Lite model. AI answers shift with phrasing, location, personalization, and time, so a different day surfaces a somewhat different set. The clinic names are public outputs from these engines, reported exactly as shown, and are neither a ranking nor an endorsement by Stratezik. The pattern, not the particular names, is the finding.

FAQ

Does ChatGPT recommend specific med spas in Toronto? Yes. In our October 2026 testing, ChatGPT ranked six Toronto med spas with a clear top pick (Rejuuv Medi Spa) and quoted each clinic's Google rating and review count. Perplexity and Gemini also named specific clinics, both answering largely through Google Maps data. Google itself showed organic listings and Reddit threads rather than an AI Overview.

How do I get my med spa recommended by AI? Reviews and your Google Business Profile come first, because the engines answer this category through Maps data and quote star ratings as their reasoning. Then build treatment-specific, answer-first pages (Botox, filler, laser), earn a place on local "best of" guides like bestinhood, and cultivate genuine goodwill on Reddit's r/askTO, which both Google and the wider web reputation signal draw on.

Why does AI name different clinics for "best med spa" versus "best Botox clinic"? Because they are different intents, and AI engines run intent-specific searches. In our test the two queries shared almost no names. The treatment query is often the higher-intent one, so a clinic needs dedicated, well-reviewed pages for each treatment rather than relying on a single "med spa" page.

Which Toronto med spa does AI recommend most? In our snapshot, Rejuuv Medi Spa recurred most, as the number one pick on both ChatGPT and Perplexity, with Clinique De Mode and 30 Hazelton Med Spa also appearing across engines. This reflects their review footprint on the date we tested and is a snapshot of what the engines surfaced, not a ranking or endorsement by us.
